Mr. Marchese has 50 years of diverse experience in planning, design, construction, and management of major Public Works’ organizations and facilities. His experience includes top executive positions in both the public and private sectors. Since retiring from active professional employment, Mr. Marchese has served in government as an elected official, and he is currently actively involved in several environmental and conservation NGO’s. Dr. Chyu presently is Distinguished Service Professor, Leighton and Mary Orr Chair Professor, and Associate Dean for International Initiatives, Swanson School of Engineering, University of Pittsburgh (Pitt). To date Dr. Chyu has a nearly 40-year academic career, including serving on the engineering faculty at Carnegie Mellon University and Arizona State University before joining Pitt in year 2000. Dr. Chyu’s technical expertise lies in the areas of power generation and aero-propulsion technologies. To date he has performed nearly 60 research projects and consultant tasks sponsored by a number of governmental agencies and industry. Dr. Chyu is Fellow of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and Associate Fellow of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). He has published more than 350 technical articles in archive journals, books, and conference proceedings. |
Dr. Chau-Chyun Chen Chemical Engineering |

Dr. Chau-Chyun Chen is a professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering and the Jack Maddox Distinguished Chair in Sustainable Energy at the Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering, Texas Tech University. A co-founder of Aspen Technology, Inc., he is the inventor of the industry-leading process simulation software for electrolyte systems, polymerization processes, small molecule drug solubility, CO 2 capture with chemical absorption, and molecular characterization for petroleum assays. At Texas Tech, his research covers molecular thermodynamics and process simulation for gas and liquid adsorption, membrane-based separations, high salinity produced water, e-waste and nuclear waste treatment, energetic materials, and energy storage. He holds over 120 peer-reviewed scientific publications and book chapters, and over 40 US and international patents. Dr. Chen received BS degree in chemistry from National Taiwan University and MS and ScDdegrees in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a fellow of American Institute of Chemical Engineers and American Association for the Advancement of Science, and a member of the US National Academy of Engineering. | |
